A UK Tribute to Song & Dance
Glastonbury is a remarkable achievement. An annual celebration of performing arts, music and festivity. Unlike other festivals, Glastonbury is all-encompassing and remarkably different in every way. It’s like a greenfield Las Vegas – a tent city where all the visitors have unimpeded access to all the attractions.
Sure, patrons will be required to travel to reach Glastonbury Festival, but the welcome wagon is out in full force. You’re still in Great Britain, but everything has been liberalized to allow fun and games, music and dance, food and friends, to revel in the majesty of pure magic.
People come to Glastonbury for the time of their lives. The appeal is so overpowering that this festival – dubbed the mother of all festivals – takes place every year. Whether you are a party pooper or a wild child, Glastonbury has everything that your heart desires. Acoustic areas, the West Holts, Silver Hayes, the Pyramid, Kidzfield, Circus, Theatre and scores of others await revellers. In case you’re wondering where exactly Glastonbury is – it’s located in the Vale of Avalon – a 900-acre paradise with a rich history. It’s a fitting tribute to the indomitable spirit of Britain, with fun in the sun during festival time. It has also generated a myriad of fun-filled spinoffs such as Winkstonbury, where you get to kick back, relax and enjoy entertainment par excellence.
Legend has it that King Arthur himself was buried at Glastonbury, or would have preferred this destination. The establishment spans 1.5 miles and has a perimeter of 8.5 miles – gargantuan by anyone’s admission. It’s the people in attendance that make Glastonbury Festival a marvel to behold. In true British tradition, it’s the multicultural nature of revellers that first catches your eye.
Everyone is unique, and yet everyone shares a common desire to be seen at Glastonbury. What happens here happens nowhere else. It is a celebration of the British spirit – raw, uncapped, unfiltered. It’s a hedonist’s paradise, and while the rules may be watered down, mutual respect remains a cherished value.
