Half the fun of going away is planning your holiday. Although you might get a week or even two in the sunshine, your actual time abroad always seems to be over before it’s started, which means that you want to eke out the run-up for as long as you can.
Luckily, holiday shopping should give you plenty of excuses to do this, and if you’ve ever needed a reason to splash out, there’s really nothing better. So, what do you need to pack (i.e. what can you start buying to help you get excited)?
Here are five pintsized essentials that you can’t leave the country without…
#1: A Good Pair of Sunglasses
As patriotic as you might be, no one can pretend that England suffers from a surplus of sunshine, so before you fly away, your sunglasses are probably the first thing that will need replacing. Although purchasing designer brands is always nice, if you don’t have the money to splash the cash, then a cheaper pair can still look just as good, and you won’t feel as bad when you inevitably lose them. The Santa Cruz Banned glasses from Skate Hut are some of our personal favourites and won’t break the bank when you buy them.
#2: A Waterproof Phone Case
You can’t go on holiday without capturing every moment for posterity – after all, you’ll need to be able to post Facebook and Instagram updates that will leave all of your friends working away at home green with envy. That’s why we also suggest investing in a waterproof phone case. Whether you’re travelling to the Great Barrier Reef or just enjoying a booze cruise in Magaluf, make sure that you can snap every moment of underwater magic and poolside fun without damaging your smartphone.
#3: Sun Cream
It’s easy to forget the most obvious essentials, so make sure that you remember to put sun cream on your list as well. If you want to avoid sporting a typically English t-shirt tan, then slather on some lotion every few hours in a factor that’s high enough to protect your skin type.
#4: A Hat
Okay, so you don’t have the face for a hat, but do you really want to risk ending up with sunstroke? If you don’t fancy spending half of your holiday tucked up in bed and feeling horrendous, then keep your head covered as much as possible and do your best to stay hydrated.
#5: An Adapter
Last but not least, remember to pack an adapter specific to the area you’ll be journeying to. There is nothing worse than forgetting yours, having to pay double for a replacement once you land, and being without your phone charger in the meantime.
Remember to check these five essentials off your list before you fly and you’re all set to have an idyllic holiday.
