When I was asked by RhinoCarHire to enter their new “Travel Your Way” photography competition I had to rack my brain.
While I love travel, I like to travel slowly. Which means I don’t really enjoy the art of travelling from destination to destination. The only one I can stand is rail travel. And since this competition is all about modes of transport I wasn’t that interested.
But soon enough I realised that I do actually have some great photos about transport. So here goes…
Travel by Road

Leopard in tree at Lake Nakuru Game Park, Kenya
I recently travelled 13,000+ kilometres by road from Nairobi in Kenya to Cape Town in South Africa. During that trip we drove through many National Game Parks.
On just the second day I managed to capture my most favourite photo from the entire trip in Lake Nakuru National Park. As we were about to leave we had the call come in that the a leopard had been spotted next to the road. It turned perfectly for one split second and even though I snapped 50 photos, this was the only one where it stayed directly at me.
Travel by Rail
Travelling around Europe by rail is the only way to do it properly.
I spent a month touring Italy by train and exploring the best locations, food and hostels. I grabbed this shot of the crazy leaning tower of Pisa when I took a train from Florence to Pisa on a day trip. Captured just moments after disembarking the train this was one of my favourite photos in Italy.
Plus I took lots of silly ones there too such as hugging the tower, pushing it back up and kicking it.
Travel by Sea

Cies Islands in Vigo, Galicia
I love the ocean. And there are few coastlines as pretty as the ones along the Spanish shores.
My trip to Galicia in Spain last year was so much fun. I even got invited out on a day trip sailing the coastline and we visited the Cies Islands in Vigo. The islands were isolated and the water crystal clear. I just wish it wasn’t the middle of winter so I could have swum!
Sailing in Spain is definitely a truly memorable way to travel.
What next?
I want to nominate another 5 of my favourite blogs to participate and show me their favourite modes of travel…
